IKM's 'Digital Super Highway' Boasts MPLS Connectivity, Enables Unlimited Data Sharing

Information Kerala Mission has recently launched a 'Digital Super Highway', which will allow all panchayats in Kerala to use an exclusive VPN over broadband to share unlimited data without overflowing normal Internet bandwidth.

A major feature of VPN is that the data transfer is done in a secured encrypted form. The VPN connectivity also offers a much faster, easily deployable and more flexible option in addition to functioning as a private virtual network in the MPLS cloud.

"The VPN was in test phase for around two years with the MPLS link having 512 kbps speed. Now this has upgraded to 40 times faster speed and more and more local bodies were added to this network," said M. Samsudheen, chairman of IKM, in a statement.

The first company to use this robust offering is Sulekh', which provides plan monitoring software for the formulation and monitoring of vital local government projects.

K.Anvar Sadath, technical director of IKM added, "Now with the VPN facility other applications developed for revenue and licenses, disbursement of social welfare pensions, work flow, file status monitoring and building permits will now be available through this network in a fast and secure mode of data transmission."

In other news, last week TMCnet reported that SolveForce recently introduced its Metropolitan Business Ethernet services in Florida. It will offer various services like point-to-point lines and MPLS connectivity to Florida networks.

The MPLS service in Florida helps users to consolidate all of their locations together and helps them to prioritize all of their data traffic so that voice (VoIP), Internet and video run flawlessly – even when their network in Florida is at its busiest.
