NextiraOne (News - Alert), a provider of business communications solutions for private and public sector companies, just revealed that illwerke vkw, a major energy supplier in Austria, has selected the company to plan and implement a MPLS-based network.

With the lower total cost of ownership, MPLS solutions are rapidly growing in popularity for medium to large enterprises with multiple locations across a wide range of industries. The offering provides them with efficient and reliable networks to equip them for the complex business requirements of the future.

illwerke vkw, one of the major employers in the Vorarlberg region of Austria, has chosen the rboust MPLS platform from NextiraOne acts as a virtual transport platform for all the company's data and for its individual divisions. The installation includes NextiraOne 10 Gigabit MPLS Core Routers, type 7600, supplied by Cisco (News - Alert) in the illwerke vkw network nodes situated between Partenen and Bregenz, Austria.

Further, te platform separates the core and access areas and also links the group's individual business locations via IP using VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service) and VPN (Virtual Private Network) technologies.

"NextiraOne has implemented a network that equips us for the many different business requirements of the future,” said Bernhard Morscher, team leader, Networks of illwerke vkw, in a statement. “With this solution that can be extended at any time, we now have a stable network which optimizes our performance, increases efficiency, reduces costs and prepares us for future requirements.”

Thanks to the virtual transport capabilities, the MPLS platform enables the targeted management of network traffic in respect of quality of service (QoS), traffic engineering and network security. Data can be transmitted across the locations at a rate of10 Gigabits. As a result, all divisions and

companies within the network can communicate more efficiently.

NextiraOne's solution also allows for the handling of each division separately from each other. This segmentation ensures that sensitive areas and company structures can be protected and controlled better in relation to each other, the company said.

Margarete Schramböck, CEO of NextiraOne Austria, commented, "The NextiraOne team was able to convince illwerke vkw with our comprehensive network expertise. Our know-how, together with our local presence, was a pre-requisite for the comprehensive consultation and made possible the successful completion of the project."
