The Carolinas Center for Oral and Facial Surgery Selects MPLS Network from Windstream

The Carolinas Center for Oral and Facial Surgery, one of the largest oral surgery practices in North Carolina and the only accredited oral maxillofacial facility in the Charlotte area, has recently selected Windstream (News - Alert) for its managed network and cloud services including MPLS.

Windstream Corp. is a provider of advanced network communications to businesses nationwide. The company also offers broadband, phone and digital TV services to consumers primarily in rural areas.

The center, which has been a Windstream customer for more than 10 years, turned to the provider to develop a fully managed solution that could handle its increasing customer demands. With this suite in place in addition to the center's existing voice and data services, it gives the organization a way to completely simplify its IT infrastructure as well as the ongoing management of the network.

"Before partnering with Windstream, we considered buying several new servers of our own, but found it to be cost prohibitive, and it would require a lot of upkeep on our part," said Danny Ketola, business manager for Carolinas Center for Oral and Facial Surgery, in a statement.

"To complete a network upgrade on our own—and maintain it—would have involved adding more IT staff. Now, we can rely on Windstream to manage our infrastructure for us, knowing that they will keep our applications running securely and smoothly for our operations," Ketola added.

Windstream's integrated solutions for the center include multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) with a virtual private network (VPN) to connect the center's four locations. A managed router, managed network security, and public cloud solutions are also readily accessible to the surgery facility due to his strategic alliance.

Moreover, Windstream's suite of cloud-based offerings delivers resources, applications, and servers, regardless of when or where they are needed. Customers have access to Windstream's state-of-the-art infrastructure—powered from its SSAE 16 certified enterprise-class data centers—for processing, storage, networking, and security, which allows a company's infrastructure capacity to be changed on demand.

"Working with Windstream allows us to be more proactive in continuously improving our patient care," Ketola concluded. "I know that our IT infrastructure is in Windstream's capable hands, and I don't have to worry about routing tables, security, or the system going down. Instead, I'm able to concentrate on applications that directly improve the experiences of our patients.”
