Menatelecom to Build MPLS-Ready LTE Network with Huawei
Recently, Huawei (News - Alert) Technologies was selected by Menatelecom, a provider of high speed telecommunications in the Middle East, to deploy its latest 4G long term evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) wireless network in the Kingdom of Bahrain that will ultimately support technologies such as multi protocol label switching (MPLS).
The strategic partnership will enable Menatelecom to deliver broadband speeds in excess of 100Mb as well as advanced voice services across the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition to MPLS, the high-speed broadband network will also deliver VPN, carrier pre-select services (CPS), international private leased circuits (IPLC) and data center hosting.
According to Jun of Huawei, Menatelecom's 4G LTE project is a major milestone in the Kingdom of Bahrain's investment in telecommunication technology. He added in a statement, “Our collaboration with Menatelecom is a strategic investment that we believe can bring lasting value to both consumers and enterprises across the Kingdom of Bahrain."
Under the terms of the agreement with Menatelecom, Huawei will supply full end-to-end solutions based on TDD LTE technology. The contract also covers transmission, core network and CPE mobile broadband terminal, as well as complete managed services for network operation and maintenance.
Huawei's vast technological experience and progressive capabilities will enable Menatelecom break through new barriers in regards to broadband offerings, according to company officials.
The company is known for its various information and communications technology (ICT) solutions that are leveraged by global companies. In fact, the company has launched a total of 64 commercial LTE networks all over the world which include many of the first such deployments in respective countries.
The official contract signing ceremony was attended by Abdul Razak Jawahery, chairman of Menatelecom, Paul Mercer, vice chairman of Menatelecom, Menatelecom board members, in addition to senior executives from Menatelecom along with Guan Jun, VP Middle East, Huawei, and Liu Xiang, Huawei country manager.
Jawahery concluded, "We feel a great sense of pride when it comes to Menatelecom's achievements, we are the leader in acquiring the latest telecommunication technologies and we will be the first country in the world to launch a nationwide 4G LTE service which is in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain's aspiration of being a leader in the telecommunication technology arena.”
